As a Gas Specialist you will join a multidisciplinary team of HSE experts covering various technical domains - from GIS, GCB, MV Surge Arresters to High Voltage Breakers and High Performance Laboratories to Manufacturing and Service. You will have a key role in developing and supporting the implementation of our Sustainability strategy 2030 through our management of SF6 and Econiq Gases.
Are you experienced in the safe handling of gases and chemicals, with technical education in a related field? If you're familiar with best practices for storage, interpreting Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and have a background in advising and training others on safety protocols, this could be the perfect job for you.

Your responsibilities

Drive gas handling improvements across all levels, providing technical support to project teams, laboratories, and factories.

Measure and record gas inventories, including deliveries, losses, and shipments

Develop and implement work instructions for gas handling safety, in compliance with Swiss laws and Hitachi Energy guidelines.

Support accident investigations by assessing vulnerabilities in systems and equipment

Provide expert support during HSE audits, technical inspections, and conduct internal audits

Assist with sales and project delivery related to gas (e.g., SF6, Econiq) and equipment

Troubleshoot on-site issues and address customer inquiries.

Enhance organizational skills through training, coaching, and information campaigns

Report gas-related metrics to stakeholders, including the Hitachi Group and Swissmem

Potentially represent the company in industry bodies and travel internationally to customer sites
Your Background
-
Successful technical studies in a related field - alternatively equivalent training would be considered

Sound experience in the handling and storage of gases

Well versed in the related Swiss laws

Knowledge of MSDS, risk assessment, measurement and calculation of gas quantities

Motivated to create a positive environmental impact by reduction of gas losses

Fluent in German and English

Proficient in MS Office applications (including MS Teams, Sharepoint)
