PURPOSE OF POSITION
- Part of our Enrichment team on our Ocean vessels, the Guest Lecturer – History is a non paid public enrichment figure, delivering destination relevant presentations within our Theatre.
- Providing a context for learning ahead of visiting the ports of call, addressing, but not limited to destination and cultural history, archaeology, military, maritime, social, economic and religious history, all relevant to the area the ship is sailing in and the ports of call.
- The Guest Lecturer – History reports to the Cruise Director.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and deliver a series of destination-based lectures on board one of Viking’s award-winning Ocean ships.
- Conduct “Q&A Sessions” following the lectures.
- Deliver scenic commentary where fitting.
- Host tables for guests at dinner, as and when.
- Accompany guests and escort shore excursions in the various ports.
- Be an ambassador for Viking

YOUR PROFILE
- Excellent enthusiastic and experienced public speaker able to deliver knowledgably, confidently and with passion.
- A degree, or relevant personal experience in the field of expertise.
- Lecturing experience within a college/university/cruise ship setting.
- Computer literate, including knowledge of PowerPoint.
- Dedicated, flexible team player, with a positive and approachable personality.
- Professional appearance / well groomed.
- Proactive in upholding Viking standards of excellence.
- Available to guests for questions, feedback and general inquiries.
- Excellent English language skills in both writing and speech; foreign language proficiency a plus.
- A travel companion who can also bring something to the enrichment program a plus.
- Available for a minimum of 4-6 week assignments, multiple times a year
