PURPOSE
The Director, Software Marketing manages the strategic and tactical marketing efforts for the portfolio of assigned Business Unit software products to drive innovation and sustained profitable growth. Responsibilities include marketing ownership and cross-functional business leadership of the insights and innovation delivery process for both new and existing products through launch and in market activity to create demand for the platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads “cradle to grave” software product life cycle process through disciplined stage gate and program management approaches. Partners effectively with Research & Development on prioritization and life cycle development plans.
- Leads effective regional coordination with contacts across all functions & geographies
- Builds credible customer relationships that strengthen assigned Business Unit’s software product line’s position in the market.
- Leads customer engagement, competitive analysis, and market research efforts to build understanding of insights and unmet needs, and translates this effectively into clear product requirements.
- Drives business case analysis in partnership with Finance and cross-functional partners to support short and long-term plans and budgets based on business unit goals and growth objectives.
- Establishes and maintains an effective system of communication throughout the organization; ensures that all key employees understand and implement plans to achieve objectives.
- Leads and partners effectively with cross functional staff and external agencies to plan and successfully execute an appropriate marketing mix of tactics to launch new software products and related services, and to effectively support existing in-market products.
- Ensures that all activities and operations are implemented in accordance with the highest ethical standards and are carried out in compliance with applicable company policies, regulations, and laws.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of both upstream and downstream Marketing principles and tactics to generate and sustain demand for software products.
- Knowledge of a range of software delivery and pricing models. Direct experience with both on-premises and cloud based software solutions as well as site/seat license and SaaS pricing models strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of delivering software in a regulated industry a plus but not required.
- Skilled at discovering customer insights and translating customer insights into product requirements
- Cross-functional team engagement, commercial leadership
- Branding, product and brand positioning
- Marketing asset design & deployment (print, digital, video, etc.); agency collaboration / leadership
- Ability to conduct market research; experience with VOC and JOC techniques
- Ability to conduct competitive analysis
- Ability to develop financial business cases and gain alignment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications and collaboration software skills
- Creative, results-oriented marketer with a passion for insight-driven innovation and building world-class brands
- Effective communication and writing skills; ability and confidence to interact positively and productively with outside vendors and colleagues at all levels of the company
- Global mindset for effective multi-region field marketing, sales, and technical support engagement

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or related field, with 12+ years of experience in B2C or B2B software marketing
- Experience with cloud based software solutions
- Experience with SaaS and Platform as a Service pricing models
