THE POSITION

We are looking for an experienced, dedicated and dynamic senior member of our legal department as Head Data Privacy to join us at our global headquarter in Basel, Switzerland. In this role, you will be responsible for managing our data privacy strategies and initiatives to ensure compliance with global regulations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams (in particular the Digital Marketing Department and IT Security). To succeed, your ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile, international business environment, pragmatic judgement as well as superior leadership are key.

YOUR ROLE

Key Responsibilities include:

1. Monitor and update the data privacy policies, procedures, and guidelines for the Avolta Group, in alignment with applicable laws and regulations, such as GDPR, and other regional privacy requirements.

2. Serve as the primary point of contact for all data privacy-related and other legal inquiries by Digital Marketing, as well as other legal issues Digital Marketing might face. Be a close collaborator to the Digital Marketing team in the implementation of loyalty programs, enhanced customer data insight and other cutting-edge digital initiatives.

3. Serve as primary point of contact for IT and IT Security, to ensure the effective integration of privacy considerations into all aspects of Avolta's operations.

4. Oversee all other data related inquiries, audits, and compliance assessments.

5. Conduct regular privacy impact assessments to identify and address potential privacy risks associated with new and existing products, services, and business processes.

6. Conduct comprehensive privacy training programs to raise awareness and promote adherence to privacy policies and procedures across the organization.
7. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management on strategic data privacy initiatives and recommend appropriate actions to enhance Avolta's privacy posture and reputation.
8. Monitor the effectiveness of data privacy controls and mechanisms through regular audits, assessments, and incident response exercise.

 

YOUR BACKGROUND

Our ideal candidate will have the following background:

  • 15+ years of experience in the data privacy field, either in-house or in a law firm
  • Proven track record of leading successful privacy programs in a multinational organization preferred
  • Admitted to the bar of at least one jurisdiction
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or equivalent certification preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of global data privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, and other regional requirements
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance legal and business considerations in complex situations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience working in the retail, travel, or hospitality industry is a plus
  • Full professional proficiency in English and either German or Spanish. Any other language would be an asset
  • Excellent English drafting and summarizing skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
