The Global Head of Procurement is a senior leadership position based in the Group Headquarters in Basel and reports directly to the Group CFO. The primary objective is to evolve the current decentralized procurement functions to a more integrated, trusted, and impactful globally operating procurement organization. This transformation aims to enhance capabilities, drive efficiency, and embed sustainability practices across the entire Group. The role requires a visionary leader who can balance the realization of savings through leveraging purchasing and decision power while maintaining local ownership and supporting the Group's dynamic growth in a regulated Medtech environment.

As the Global Head of Procurement, you would :

  • Global Procurement Transformation: Lead the transformation of the global procurement organization, defining and implementing an innovative procurement strategy that drives the decentralized functions into an integrated, trusted, and impactful global organization.
  • Strategic KPIs and Performance: Establish and monitor strategic KPIs related to procurement activities, ensuring alignment with annual savings targets and overall organizational goals.
  • Category and Supplier Management Strategy: Develop and drive a strategic framework for category and supplier management. Achieve a best-value position with suppliers through tendering, competitive benchmarking, and negotiation where multiple, suitable suppliers exist.
  • Cost Reduction and Change Management: Initiate and lead change and cost reduction programs, deriving and executing tactics for the purchasing strategy to deliver year-over-year savings. Coordinate and pool sourcing activities across different geographic regions to enhance buying power and realize significant savings.
  • Digital Transformation and E-Procurement: Champion the adoption of e-procurement and advanced digital technologies to increase efficiency, streamline processes, and implement lean, agile procurement practices.
  • Sustainability and Ethical Sourcing: Integrate sustainability into the procurement strategy, ensuring that supplier practices align with the Group's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. Promote ethical sourcing and support initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of procurement activities.
  • Supplier Management Excellence: Lead the implementation of supplier management best practices, including certification programs, performance reviews, and strategic partnerships with key suppliers.
  • Organizational Development: Build a robust and resilient procurement organization by developing both transactional and strategic procurement teams, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in a dynamic international business environment, focusing on procurement, sourcing, and supplier management.
  • Proven track record of delivering year-over-year savings in an international context, with demonstrated ability to drive cost reductions and lead transformative change projects globally.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills, with sound financial acumen and the ability to employ various negotiation styles effectively.
  • Experience working with supply chain and material planning functions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams in a global and matrix organization.
  • Proficient understanding of key contractual terms and the ability to define and manage respective contracts and supplier relations commercially.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience using IT and ERP systems, preferably within a SAP landscape. Proven ability to drive digital transformation within procurement functions.
  • Team player with an open & positive attitude, a strong customer focus and a result driven mentality.
  • Fluent in English, German / other languages are an asset.
