NDT Technician
Your daily tasks & responsibilities
- Utilize NDT methods (Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Thermography, Ultrasonic Testing, and Eddy Current Testing) to ensure the airworthiness of critical aircraft structures, parts, and components across a wide range of models (Boeing, Airbus, Gulfstream, Bombardier, Pilatus) in both base and line maintenance environments, adhering to approved procedures.
- Prepare test surfaces, operate NDT equipment, interpret test results to identify defects, and maintain accurate documentation for all NDT activities related to aircraft wheels.
- Assist maintenance personnel with required repairs and certification of aircraft wheels as needed.
- Conduct daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual performance checks of Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic, Thermography and Eddy Current inspection systems.
- Demonstrate the ability to work safely at heights and in confined spaces (fuel tanks), following all established safety procedures.
- Utilize strong Excel skills to develop detailed reports with corrosion data analysis and visualizations.
- Employ a range of mechanical measuring instruments (calipers, depth gauges, micrometers, filler gauges, and microscopes) to verify dimensions and assess corrosion severity on aircraft components.
- Carry out and report time-consuming and complex measurement jobs patiently, meticulously, and within the determined timeframe, in accordance with established procedures.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures specific to both NDT and aircraft maintenance.
- Fulfill other duties assigned by the supervisor, such as cleaning NDT equipment and the workshop, and managing inventory control.
The expertise you have & skills you bring
- Possess a valid EN 4179 Level 2 NDT certification for PT, MT, TT, UT, and ET methods.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an NDT technician in an EASA Part 145 aerospace environment. Experience working on Boeing and Airbus aircraft is preferred.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of NDT principles and theories as they apply to aircraft components.
- Experience with composite inspection, bond testing, and Phased array UT is a plus.
- Possess excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, working independently and collaboratively as needed.
- Fluency in written and verbal English is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration.
- Working knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel with strong data analysis skills.
- Familiarity with and ability to use various mechanical measuring instruments.
- Ability to pass a vision exam as per EN 4179 and distinguish colors used in NDT processes.
