Your main tasks
- Processing and data analysis of three-dimensional immunofluorescence images of human skin
- Development of scripts for quantification of peripheral neuronal structures using classical and AI/ML techniques
- Apply the optimized method to a larger collection of datasets
- Optimization of imaging parameters on a mesoSPIM (N. Vladimirov et al, Nature Communication 2024) for optimal later analysis
- Help establish collaborations with groups working on similar issues
- Assist in the acquisition of third party funding
Your profile
- Master in Computer Science or similar (preference will be given to candidates with a combination of computer science and bioengineering/mathematics)
- Interest in 3D biological image analysis
- Interest in morphological structures
- Software engineering
- Willingness to learn about a diagnostic medical field
- Strong team and communication skills
Our offer
You will be involved in the development of a promising in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) for the peripheral nervous system. The position offers you a high degree of independence as an expert in computer-assisted analysis of three-dimensional data.
The team leader is an experienced neuropathologist who is in the process of setting up her own research group. The young research group is embedded in the dynamic and international environment of the Institute of Neuropathology. It is ideal for computer scientists who wish to develop a profile in bioinformatics/medical informatics.
The position is initially limited to 12 months (up to a maximum of 24 months with reduced workload). With appropriate project success and commitment, a longer working relationship is very welcome.
