With 2100 Bachelor's and Master's students, the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) is one of the largest and most diverse art academies in Europe. The fields of study and research include art education, design, film, fine arts, music, dance, theatre and transdisciplinarity. In the center of Zurich, the ZHdK is a dynamic place where passionate people from over 75 countries work, study, teach, research and deepen their education. The university has numerous exhibition and performance venues where students' projects are shown to the public.
The Visual Communication institute develops skills in the visual communication of information and in the creative implementation of communication in all social contexts. It encompasses work for classic and digital media but always focuses on the conceptual and creative aspects of project work. The institute offers Bachelor's courses in Visual Communication, Master's courses in Visual Communication as well as research and cooperation projects.
As of 1 August 2025, we are looking for a:
Lecturer for Transformative Technologies and Digital Tools (30%) Bachelor Major Visual Communication
We are looking for a person with a cross-media, future-oriented and critically reflective approach in Transformative Technologies and Digital Tools, who will introduce and further develop technological innovations in this field. International networking as well as research interests and experience are desirable to contribute historical, theoretical, technical and media expertise to the teaching area. In addition, you are an independent, communicative personality with strong organizational and conceptual skills who is familiar with the operational procedures of a university and is actively involved in the college and in student projects.
Your tasks
- Teaching the basics of digital tools and data visualization
- Introductory courses in creative coding and interactive visualization
- Participation in committees and tasks of the Visual Communication institute and the Department of Design
- Promoting young talent and supervising student projects, also, in the context of final theses
Your profile
- Completed Master's degree, a diploma or a higher or equivalent qualification in the field of visual communication, design or related fields, as well as if possible, a university teaching qualification
- Several years of teaching experience and sound practical experience in the field of visual communication and design
- Proven track record in the areas of digitalization, creative coding and data visualization
- Sound knowledge of digital tools, coding and visualization techniques
- Very good written and spoken German and English skills
- Openness and interest in working with students and
- Teamwork, integration and dialogue skills
