Presentation
The Institute of Geography and Sustainability (IGD) is seeking a graduate assistant in physical geography (geocultural heritage) to join Prof. Emmanuel Reynard's research team.
IGD is an interdisciplinary community of about 130 academics that work in the fields of Geography and Sustainability. With 27 professors and lectures, and more than 80 PhD students and Post-docs, the department offers a vibrant, stimulating environment for cutting-edge research. It hosts regular lecture series and distinguished guest researchers from around the world.

Your responsibilities
The candidate will conduct personal research leading to a doctorate in the field of geocultural heritage. The subject of the research should focus on concepts and methods for the characterisation and management of geocultural heritage, preferably in mountain areas. The research will be carried out within the IGD “Marges, environnement, pasysage” group and the UNIL's Interdisciplinary Centre for Mountain Research (CIRM).
The candidate will devote at least half of his/her time to his/her doctoral thesis and the rest as a graduate assistant to activities in support of Prof. Emmanuel Reynard's research and teaching in the field of geomorphology and mountain geography as well as service activities for the IGD
Your qualifications
The candidate must hold a Master's degree in geography, with a focus on physical geography. Good knowledge of geomatics and/or qualitative methods would be an asset.
Language skills in French (French is the language of instruction at UNIL and the main language of interaction within IGD) and English are expected.
