Your responsibilities
Join our Software Section (SW) in the Beam Instrumentation Group (SY-BI) as an Assistant Software Technician!
As an Assistant Software Technician, you will collaborate with engineers and technical personnel on the following processes:
- Using WRAP (an internally developed drag-and-drop tool):
- Assist in implementing visual displays to support their daily operations and instrument development.
- Gather user feedback communicate with the WRAP product team to suggest improvements.
- Using Grafana:
- Assist in creating dashboards to monitor the health of their systems.
- Utilizing Online Documentation:
- Create and update documentation on the group's instruments using an established set of online pages.
- Updating Software Design Descriptions:
- Update and complete missing textual descriptions in existing software designs.
Your profile
Skills
- Knowledge of basic computing concepts
- Use of computing tools in a desktop environment
- Good communication skills
- Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.
Eligibility criteria:
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State .
- By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Software engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible.
Additional Information
Job closing date: 16th of March 2025 at 23:59 hrs CET.
Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
Working hours: 40 hours per week
