Your responsibilities

Join our Software Section (SW)  in the Beam Instrumentation Group (SY-BI) as an Assistant Software Technician!

As an Assistant Software Technician, you will collaborate with engineers and technical personnel on the following processes:

• Using WRAP (an internally developed drag-and-drop tool):
  • Assist in implementing visual displays to support their daily operations and instrument development.
  • Gather user feedback communicate with the WRAP product team to suggest improvements.
• Using Grafana:
  • Assist in creating dashboards to monitor the health of their systems.
• Utilizing Online Documentation:
  • Create and update documentation on the group's instruments using an established set of online pages.
• Updating Software Design Descriptions:
  • Update and complete missing textual descriptions in existing software designs.

Your profile

Skills

• Knowledge of basic computing concepts
• Use of computing tools in a desktop environment
• Good communication skills
• Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

• You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State .
• By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Software engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma.
• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
• Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
