ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Planning and Master Data Analyst is responsible for the detailed planning of dry docks for Viking’s fleet of 80+ river ships within Europe and maintaining the Viking Technical database, ensuring its consistency across the 80+ river ships. Reporting directly to the Director of Technical Supply Chain & Planning, the analyst will have a crucial role in planning all maintenance activities during lay-up periods, aligning key stakeholders, and ensuring a high-quality database.
The role is based in Basel, Switzerland, but it requires travel about 10-20% of your time to our Service Hubs, shipyards, and docking stations all over Europe and Egypt.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Master data responsibilities
• Categorize the existing technical item database and standardize them according to Viking standards.
• Ensure proper creation and categorization of new items and associate items with specific assets.
• Review and align the current vendor database, maintaining accurate records for new vendors.
• Develop and categorize standard templates for work orders.
• Ensure high consistency in Maintenance & Repair Operations and procurement data sets.
Maintenance operations
• Develop and lead the planning of M&R activities, including preventive maintenance during the season, lay-up maintenance and dry docks. Prioritize timely and cost-effective execution while minimizing disruptions to operations.
• Understand dependencies of maintenance activities and include them in maintenance plan design.
• Track planning development, adjust actual progress, and identify potential bottlenecks.
• Create and update documents to report maintenance progress at the executive level.
• Collaborate closely with Technical Directors, the Director of Technical Supply Chain and planning, and other stakeholders to align planning with strategic goals and operational requirements.
• Create and track key metrics and reports to control and communicate the progress of the maintenance activities.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Education and professional experience
• Technical Degree in Engineering or similar.
• Relevant knowledge of technical spare parts and components, especially related to maritime or transportation industries.
• Proven leadership in maintenance operations and dry dock planning, preferably within the maritime or transportation industry.
Planning and Project management skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage large maintenance plans and plan dry docks effectively.
• Proven experience in aligning stakeholders to execute maintenance activities.
• Monitor project timelines, report on the implementation status, and ensure deadlines are met.
Soft skills and others
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently, and prioritize time allocation across multiple projects.
• Language skills:
- Business-level English proficiency (oral and written).
- German language knowledge is a plus.
• Professional skills in PowerPoint, Power BI, and Excel.
• Knowledge of SQL and understanding of databases is a plus.
