As the OEM Support Systems Engineer for the Mobility Application Server organization, you will play a crucial role in decomposing complex requirements into designs, architectures, and methods for large-scale distributed systems. Collaborating closely with external partners at OEMs, aircraft engineers, senior software engineers, product owners, and team leads, you will ensure that design roadmaps align with our long-term strategic vision and immediate business priorities.
The day-to-day
As a critical member of the Commercial Aviation team, you will ensure that existing Viasat technologies integrate seamlessly with external equipment (eg: ACM, ARINC). You will use your knowledge of our business an technological constrants to inform review of requirements from OEMs, validating what is possible.
What you'll need
- Break down business, technical, and non-technical requirements into technical roadmaps
- Build and clearly communicate designs that can be implemented by DevOps Teams with minimal direction
- Apply your experience in Local Area Networking, specifically L2 Switch knowledge, Firewalls, and IPTABLES.
- Familiarity with SNMP, MIBs, and OIDs
- Decompose sophisticated documentation, such as compliance matrix and system interconnect diagrams, into technical requirements
What will help you on the job
- To succeed in this position, it is important to have knowledge of the aviation industry, including standards like ARINC 665 and ARINC 615A. We always prioritize fundamental security principles and practices.
- The ability to train and guide junior software developers, along with expertise in designing and developing microservice architectures, will be helpful.
- Moreover, being familiar with modern approaches to configuring, testing, and deploying microservices independently is a positive attribute.
- Previous experience with application deployment/hosting in Kubernetes is preferred.
Salary range
$168,100.00 - $247,600.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $208,700.00- $292,200.00/ annually
