Position Title: Trust Accountant
Reports To: Head Trust Administration
Location: Zurich
Employment Type: 100%
Job Summary:
The Trust Accountant will be responsible for the financial management and reporting of trust accounts in accordance with legal, regulatory, and fiduciary standards. The role includes managing trust fund accounting, reconciling financial statements, ensuring compliance with trust agreements, and providing detailed reporting to stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in the trust industry, a good understanding of fiduciary duties and knowledge of fiduciary accounting systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Trust Account Management:
- Maintain and manage the financial records of multiple trust and corporate accounts.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions, including deposits, security transactions, disbursements, income, and expenses.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Prepare financial statements and reports for trustees and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant trust agreements, laws, and regulations.
- Assist in audits and reviews of trust accounts as required.
Reconciliation and Analysis:
- Reconcile bank statements, investment accounts, and general ledgers.
- Analyse financial data to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
Communication and Support:
- Serve as a point of contact for trustees and other stakeholders regarding financial inquiries.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to trustees to support decision-making.
System Management:
- Utilize trust accounting software and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Requirement Profile:
Education:
- Degree in accounting, finance, banking, insurance or general commercial training
- Full STEP qualification not required but a willingness to complete the STEP Introduction to Trusts course or the more sophisticated STEP Advanced Certificate in Trust and Estate Accounting would be welcome
Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in the trust or fiduciary services industry.
- Demonstrated experience with trust accounting, fiduciary principles, and regulatory compliance.
Skills:
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Fluency in written and spoken German and English (other languages would be a great advantage)
Competencies:
- High ethical standards and understanding of fiduciary responsibilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with trustees, and stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Good team player with the ability to think and work independently and able to work as part of a small team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with investment accounting principles.
- Experience working with complex trust structures.
