Strategy, Portfolio & Operations (SPO) is a function that encompasses a number of business partner functions for pRED including strategy, portfolio, project management, clinical operations, sites and laboratory management, capability development and external operations. SPO is set up leveraging a hub and spoke design with a clear mandate for core capabilities that are mirrored by the respective spokes in disease therapeutic areas and functions across pRED. SPO’s mission is to deliver excellence in operations, ensure patient centricity and enable high-quality decision-making. As a trusted partner across pRED, SPO contributes to pRED’s research and development excellence.
The Opportunity
We are offering an outstanding opportunity to support and augment the ongoing data and analytics activities within the SPO’s Strategy and Portfolio Chapter (S&P). This role is a chance to join a high-impact group, working with multidisciplinary teams and acting as an independent and objective thought partner to senior collaborators on a range of business and strategic questions related to the overall direction and long-term strategy of pRED.
This position is reporting to the Strategy & Portfolio Chapter Lead.
Position Scope and Responsibilities:
This role will enable experts across SPO and a network of global function leaders to leverage data & analysis to generate insights and drive strategic decision-making across the pRED organisation (e.g. R&D Efficiency trends, program timelines and success rates).
It involves articulating the impact of key strategies toward the Pharma Ambition, recommending prioritization, and designing incentive programs. It ensures objective Program & Portfolio data, a single source of truth architecture, and strategic analytics for quality decisions. It contributes to the future of SPO and pRED by advancing D&A capabilities and supporting colleague development. Additionally, it partners with SPO Leadership to refine standard procedures and methods for a high-performing organization.
Responsibilities cover a mix of areas, including:
Data & Analytics Leadership:

Leverage diverse expertise to develop and support a clear vision for the SPO/S&P Digital & Data Strategy, focusing on priorities and collaboration within the Roche community.

Cultivate a data-driven culture and inspire a forward-thinking digital growth mindset by empowering team members and collaborators to enhance their skills in technology, analytics, and insights.

Portfolio Insights: Support the team in creating and refining metrics and analytics to improve efficiency, decision-making, and communication, using advanced modelling and thoughtful recommendations.

Encourage innovation by moving beyond traditional methods to advance analytics from descriptive to predictive, using new resources and partnerships inside and outside Roche.

Promote a culture of embracing change and innovation by implementing digital solutions that streamline and optimize tasks, ensuring maximum impact for the organization.
S&P Leadership:

Leverage partnerships with other SPO Chapter leads for strategic workforce planning, hiring, performance management, talent flow, talent development, and work package allocation.

Promote a culture of transparent, proactive feedback and exemplify this behavior by actively engaging with team members and collaborators.

Encourage the community to take ownership of sharing insights and effective practices, establishing minimal standard approaches, and developing recommended ways of working, including training, mentoring, and upskilling.
Who you are
-
You have +12 years of confirmed experience in fields such as analytics & insights, data science, and consulting, with significant experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.

You hold an advanced degree or certification in a relevant area (e.g., MBA, PhD, MSc).

You have shown leadership in handling data platforms, as well as advanced analytics and visualization tools. You excel in communication, strategic and analytical thinking, and have shown your skills as a valuable thought partner to business leaders and executive teams, particularly in framing and providing decision support for complex issues.

You have a confirmed history of working well with others to lead projects, resolve conflicts, and handle uncertainty. You can efficiently handle complex tasks that involve many priorities and team members across different parts of an organization.
