We are looking for a project coordinatior
University of Bern, Veterinary Public Health Institute (VPHI)/ Institute of Ecology and Evolution (IEE), Bern, Switzerland
The VPHI and IEE at the University of Bern are looking for a project coordinator to coordinate and facilitate a multi-stakeholder project and to serve as administrative and management focal point for internal and external collaborators. The position will be based either at the VPHI or the IEE at the University of Bern, with close collaboration to the project partner institutes (Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute in Basel and Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques in Côte d'Ivoire).
The position is embedded in an interdisciplinary and international research project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) with several PhD and postdoc positions. The project aims to determine the role of free-roaming dogs in the spread and persistence of infectious disease. Fieldwork will be undertaken in Uganda, Chad, Indonesia and India, with local partners in each country.
Tasks
Administration:
- Organisation of project travel (flights, visa, medical care, etc)
- Organisation of incoming visits (short and long) of project team members
- Support on and off boarding of team members
Communication and meetings:
- Plan and organize consortia meetings (across PI and country teams)
- Support disseminating scientific findings through webpage, social media, and events
- Support generating reports towards the SNSF and institutes
Finances:
- Monitor project budget
- coordinate periodic internal budget reviews
Scientific progress:
- Develop and update detailed project schedule with PIs
- Monitor and support timelines and completeness of project deliverables
- Support project data management
Requirements
We are looking for a reliable and highly motivated project coordinator who is able to work closely with PIs and independently, and in a diverse team of different origins and educational backgrounds.
- Project coordination experience in multi-stakeholder setting
- Work experience with project or field work in Africa or Asia
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to juggle several tasks at once and to keep overview in hectic times
- Preferably a degree in veterinary medicine, epidemiology, biology, or a related field- Good communication and intercultural skills
- Excellent proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PPT). Experience with Project Management Tools would be an asset.
- Language requirements: English is the working language. Knowledge of German and/or French is helpful for working at the University of Bern.
- Ability to adjust to peak workload.
- Potential participation in project workshops (e.g. kick-off workshop in Uganda, dissemination workshops towards the end of the project)
