Position Overview
The Medical Affairs, Medical Communications Intern will work with the Screening Medical Communications Team. The position is intended to be a full-time summer opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in the biological sciences, biotechnology, health sciences, or medical field to obtain hands-on experience with medical communications. This position is based in the corporate office in Madison, WI.
Essential Duties
include but are not limited to the following:
- Learning about and assisting with the update and maintenance of the Scientific Communication Platforms to include:
- Real-time updating and tracking of all scientific communication platforms to ensure a cohesive evidence plan.
- Support the Scientific Narrative Action Plan (SNAP) workgroup through the summarization of evidence for team discussions and inclusion in narrative.
- Research and evaluate the Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program to enhance overall program content and execution. This work will include:
- Evidence cull of previous grants and assessment of overall impact (attendance, reach, cost: learner)
- Learn process and contribute to developing CME engagement strategy
- Assist with Resource development and Omnichannel collateral through:
- Providing support for MLR submission of medical communication collateral (Referencing, tagging, etc.)
- Assist in creative design and development of new resources
- Identify, complete, and present an Experiential Project at the culmination of the internship. The purpose of the Experiential Project is to allow the intern to identify an aspect of their role and responsibilities that affords them the opportunity to highlight their creativity and strategic approach to networking and problem-solving skills.

- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Scheduling requirements:
- Ability to work designated schedule.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Physical requirements:
- Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
- Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
- Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
- Ability to use a telephone through a headset.
- Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in biological sciences, biotechnology, health sciences, or medical field.
- Preference giving to candidates with a record of outstanding academic achievement.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
- Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for up to 8 hours a day.
Salary Range:
$34,000.00 - $54,000.00The annual base salary shown is a national range for this position on a full-time basis, and may differ based on the hiring location.
