The Department of Oncology/group of Prof. George Coukos of the University of Lausanne invites applications for the position of Laboratory Technician (in vivo specialist).
As a Laboratory Technician specializing in in vivo techniques, you will play a key role in the identification, development, and preclinical evaluation of immune cell engineering strategies for cancer immunotherapy. You will be in charge of experiments using tumor-bearing mouse models, collecting and analyzing biological samples, and ensuring that all work complies with regulatory guidelines.

Your responsibilities
- Perform in vitro and in vivo experiments for the identification, development, and preclinical evaluation of immune cell engineering and combinatorial strategies for cancer immunotherapy.
- Conduct molecular biology experiments, maintain and culture cell lines, and perform functional assays.
- Collect, process, and analyze biological samples using various techniques including flow cytometry, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA.
- Assist in the organization, preparation and ordering of reagents and mice required for ongoing and upcoming experiments.
- Maintain detailed records of experimental protocols used, observations, raw data and data analysis, in compliance with data integrity procedures.
- Ensure that experimental work in mice complies with the guidelines established for the laboratory with the approval of the cantonal veterinary (SCAV). Contribute to any reporting required by the cantonal veterinary or others.
- Contribute to standard operating procedures (SOPs) development and ensure compliance with biosafety and animal welfare regulations.
Your qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Life or Biological Sciences, or equivalent qualification (required)
- Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, preferably in Cancer Immunology (preferred, but not required).
- LTK1 certification and extensive experience with murine models (required). LTK2 will be considered as a plus.
- Proficiency in culturing and functional characterization of primary human immune cells and cell lines.
- Hands-on experience with mouse tumor model experimentation, ideally in the field of cancer immunotherapy.
- Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Competency in software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Snapgene (or similar), Prism, and FlowJo.
- Fluency in spoken English and French.
