Description
This is how you can contribute
- Investigating soil health and ecosystem functions across European living labs
- Testing participatory tools for soil health assessments together with farmers, assessing how these tools reflect changes in soil health and how this relates to ecosystem functioning
- Assesssing the multi-dimensional performance of agroecological systems using the FAO-tool TAPE
- Interacting with farmers and jointly developing best practices
- Piloting a circular resource recycling strategy together with farmers, retailers and consumers to recycle food and other organic waste to support crop production and soil health
- Project management, participating in international consortium meetings
Requirements
This makes you unique
- PhD in soil science, agronomy, ecology, botany, microbial ecology, or related fields
- Experience in analyzing soils’ chemical, physical, or biological properties
- Experience in interacting with farmers, composting, microbial community analyses, or assessing the multi-dimensional (environmental, social, economic) performance of agroecological systems is an advantage
- Good statistical skills, ideally using R
- Well structured and organized working style, good communication skills
- Knowledge of two official Swiss languages and English

The ’Integrative Agroecology’ Research Group coordinates and pools the know-how of various Groups in order to calculate a range of agri-environmental indicators, and forms the heart of the new Swiss agri-environmental monitoring programme (MAUS). The group has great expertise in collecting, plausibility- checking and managing agricultural data. In addition, our Group coordinates major EU partnership programmes for the whole of Agroscope.
