Senior Legal Counsel

Our client is a leading FinTech specialised in secured lending for corporates.

On behalf our client, Swisslinx is looking for a highly capable, dynamic, and experienced Senior Legal Counsel / Structurer to join its wholesale lending business.

This role will involve working closely with internal business teams and external clients and legal firms to ensure the secure and diligent origination of debt facilities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the legal landscape across European markets, excellent attention to detail, and outstanding collaboration skills.

The position can be based in Malta, Stockholm, Helsinki, Riga or Milan.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact between the company and external legal firms to facilitate efficient and seamless debt origination.
• Oversee and ensure that all debt facilities are originated securely and in compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct in-depth legal research to support debt origination activities.
• Maintain and develop extensive knowledge of debt origination regulations and securitization law across European jurisdictions.
• Work closely with internal departments such as finance, risk, compliance, and business units to ensure alignment on debt origination processes and regulatory requirements.
• Assess legal documents and agreements related to debt origination, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Address key legal and regulatory matters in collaboration with external legal partners and internal stakeholders.
• Provide high-level legal advice on debt origination issues to senior management and other stakeholders.
• Stay up to date on legal and regulatory changes and communicate relevant updates to internal teams.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of debt origination processes and procedures.
• Maintain composure and efficiency in high-pressure situations, especially when working with tight deadlines.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Law degree (LL.M. or equivalent)
• Valid legal qualification with the ability to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a legal role, with a focus on debt origination or structured finance.
• Extensive experience in structuring secured debt products and facilities.
• Strong knowledge of European financial regulations related to debt facilities.
• Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to collaborate across departments.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in English is required; additional European languages are a plus.
• Experience working in the banking or financial services industry.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
