The Position
In Roche´s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. Strategy, Portfolio & Operations (SPO) is a newly built function that aims to encompass a number of business partner functions for pRED including strategy, portfolio, project management, clinical operations, sites and laboratory management, capability development and external operations. SPO is set up leveraging a hub and spoke design with a clear mandate for core capabilities that are mirrored by the respective spokes in disease therapeutic areas and functions across pRED. SPO’s mission is to deliver excellence in operations, ensure patient centricity and enable high quality decision making. As a trusted partner across pRED, SPO contributes to pRED’s research and development excellence.
Job mission
We are offering an outstanding opportunity to support and augment the ongoing strategy activities within the Strategy and Portfolio Chapter (S&P) of SPO.
This is a unique opportunity to join a high-impact group, working with multidisciplinary teams and acting as an independent and objective thought-partner to senior stakeholders on a range of business and strategic questions related to the overall direction and long-term strategy of pRED.
This position is reporting to the Strategy & Portfolio Chapter Lead.
Your impact
The position provides an outstanding opportunity to influence R&D from research through Phase II, across many therapeutic areas. It requires interactions with senior partners from the Research, Clinical, Development Sciences, Regulatory and Commercial organisations. The ideal candidate will have a background that combines science, strategy and business, to be a part of a team bringing life-saving therapeutics to patients.
Your responsibilities

Provide high-quality analysis and documentation in order to give portfolio context for decision making using various analytical tools (e.g. for annual portfolio reviews);

Provide input to help facilitate prioritization, goal setting, and business planning processes;

Provide teams with decision analysis and strategic support to ensure alignment with portfolio priorities;

Establish and maintain functionally integrated program schedules to enable accurate financial and portfolio analyses and ensure accurate inputs are provided into business planning

Partner with S&P and PPME chapter members to develop understanding of Roche pipeline across all development stages;

Perform responsibilities while living and displaying the Strategy & Portfolio attitudes and behaviours, demonstrating curiosity, analytical thinking and strategic agility.
Your profile
You are an enrolled or recently graduated (in the past 12 months) MBA or senior Master’s student in Science, Business, or Data Science who is looking for a meaningful internship in a professional environment.
Furthermore, you have:

Strong interest in learning about drug development and pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical industry;

Experience making and giving presentations with excellent oral communication skills and advanced knowledge of PowerPoint and/or Google Slides;

Experience using databases and spreadsheets; advanced knowledge of Excel and/or Google Sheets is preferred, Tableau and/or coding (R/Python) experience would be an asset;

Understanding of a consulting environment using various analytic frameworks to structure and present complex business challenges;

Knowledge in Oncology, Ophthalmology, Neuroscience, Immunology, or Cardiometabolism would be an asset;

Experience in the life sciences or pharmaceutical industry would be an asset;

Proven customer service orientation, collaborative attitude, and flexibility to compromise.
