A field-based scientist responsible for understanding and managing the scientific solutions for our BD FACSDiscover and FACSymphony customers. This role will have heavy emphasis on the presale activities, including instrument demonstrations, technical seminars, and data interpretation. The role will require the individual to design and deliver to prospective customers and solutions-based presentation with the ultimate objective of securing a sale.

This role will have heavy emphasis on the presale activities, including instrument demonstrations, technical seminars, and data interpretation. The role will require the individual to design and deliver to prospective customers and solutions-based presentation with the ultimate objective of securing a sale.
This role will interface with Academic, Pharma, CRO and Biotechnology organizations and will require subject matter expertise to tailor presentations and demonstrations for different audiences. This position is a technical sales role. Responsibility on the presales side is evident, but also the instrument onboarding and post-sales support assuring our customers are achieving set goals with their new purchase is key in this role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Skillfully performing instrument demonstrations in various environments. This can be at a BD facility, at a customer site, virtually, or at a trade show
* Provide subject matter presentations about products, technologies, or workflow solutions. This can be face to face or virtually. This can be one on one or large group settings.
* Provide support for data generation, either in the form of experimental planning, panel design and most certainly sample acquisition and data analysis.
* Works closely with US and Global Marketing to provide voice of customer input and concerns.
* Works closely with the local instrument and reagent sales team to assure the strongest solution is being presented to the perspective customer.
* Works closely with the local and national Field Service organization to assure a smooth and effective onboarding of our new customers.
* Participates as member of product strategy team as assigned.
* Collaborates with appropriate department to develop technical presentations, application notes, etc
* Supports technical knowledge transfer between all customer facing teams.
* Provides technical and sales support at Trade shows (Domestic, International), User's meetings, workshops and other venues when appropriate.
* Promotes a safe work environment.
* Participates in Environmental Health and Safety programs.
* Ensures a safe Laboratory work environment.
* Performs other related duties ad assignments as required.
Minimum job requirements:
-
A minimum of a BS in Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology, Medical Technology, or a science related to BD Biosciences products, plus 4-6 years of flow cytometry experience, OR a minimum of 8-10 years of flow cytometry experience is required. Experience in Cell Sorting is required

A PhD in a biological science is preferred.

A working knowledge of current BD Biosciences products is required. Specifically, FACSDiscover S8 and the FACSymphony family of products.

Experience with fluorescent Image based applications is desired.

Ability to positively interact in a multi-layered and sophisticated work environment, strong communication skills, and ability to work in a team environment.

Ability to communicate coherently and effectively. Strong influence without authority skills

Ability to speak scientifically, while understanding the messaging is a business driver.

Ability to provide lectures and drive roundtable discussions with KOLs.

Must possess and demonstrate the ability to apply creative problem-solving skills to novel and sometimes sophisticated flow cytometry applications.

Must possess the ability to think strategically and craft technical solutions for sophisticated customer needs

Must exhibit effective oral and written communications skills.

Must be flexible with team success and team struggles

Must be able to efficiently coordinate and present information in a variety of formats

Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license and meet BD's auto safety standards

Travel is estimated to be at least 60%.
