Are you a self-motivated and independent professional with a passion for fostering collaboration, driving innovation and helping cities better serve their communities? The Urban Technology Alliance (UTA) is seeking an experienced Partnership and Community Manager with exceptional communication skills to lead membership growth, engage with our vibrant community, and support EU-funded projects that connect European cities with cutting-edge technologies.
As a member-driven pilot-oriented organisation, UTA provides trusted guidance to cities worldwide for their sustainable digital transformation by testing innovative smart city solutions to address emerging urban challenges in mobility, environment, energy, and more through innovative ICT technologies such as IoT, AI, and big data. The successful candidate will work closely with C-level executives to shape the membership program, facilitate urban trials, and contribute to impactful deployment projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with global stakeholders and make a tangible difference in smart city innovation.
Key Responsibilities
• Build strong relationships with UTA members, understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutions.
• Develop strategic communication plans to attract new members and foster engagement.
• Identify and engage with potential partners in the smart city ecosystem
• Organize outreach activities, workshops, and events for members and project stakeholders.
• Plan and coordinate UTA-hosted events, workshops, and webinars.
• Coordinate with technical teams on smart city trials and ensure seamless collaboration.
• Manage social media channels and digital communications effectively.
• Represent UTA at EU project meetings and international events across Europe and Asia.
• Support the alliance in defining its long-term vision and objectives.
Required Skills & Experience
• Educational Background: Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Partnership & Business Development: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, business development, or partnership management.
• Smart City Knowledge: Familiarity with smart city ecosystems, urban innovation, or digital transformation initiatives.
• Team Player & Independent Worker: Proven ability to work independently, identify challenges, and develop solutions.
• Strategic Thinking & Growth Orientation: Ability to contribute to long-term planning and expansion strategies.
• Marketing & Communication Expertise: Experience in marketing, communications, websites and campaign management tools (e.g., Wordpress, Mailchimp).
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with IT technologies, smart city concepts, and EU-funded R&D projects.
• Communication Skills: Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders (cities, businesses, researchers) and present complex topics in an understandable way. Excellent English proficiency in both written and spoken formats.
• Event Management & Public Speaking: Comfortable representing an organization at public events and leading discussions.
• Digital Savvy: Proficiency in social media tools and techniques.
• Candidate must have the right to live/work in Switzerland and be willing to travel for short business trips.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience working in a non-profit, industry association, or smart city network.
• Knowledge of digital transformation, technology trends, and city governance.
• Familiarity with EU-funded projects and international collaborations.
