Your mission? Oversee the full lifecycle of trade capture, confirmation, settlement, reconciliations and regulatory reporting across FX, OTC, Money Market and Precious Metals trades for one of our long term, clients here in Switzerland.
As an Investment Banking Operations Team Lead, you will play a crucial role in managing end-to-end trade operations, ensuring seamless execution, and mitigating risk. You will lead a team responsible for transaction processing, confirmations, settlements, and regulatory reporting across various asset classes. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, deep market knowledge, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and mentor a team of operations analysts, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Oversee daily transaction processing, trade confirmations, and settlements to ensure operational efficiency of FX, OTC, Money Market and Precious Metals transactions.
- Provide guidance and training to team members on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and system enhancements.
- Act as the primary escalation point for operational issues, resolving them swiftly with minimal impact.
Trade Support & Transaction Processing
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of trades across asset classes (e.g., FX, OTC Derivatives, Money Market and Precious Metals)
- Monitor and manage trade lifecycle events, ensuring timely trade matching and confirmations with counterparties.
- Investigate and resolve trade breaks, discrepancies, and settlement failures in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Operational Risk & Compliance
- Maintain a strong control framework to mitigate financial, operational, and reputational risks.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, industry guidelines, and internal policies.
- Work closely with compliance and risk teams to support audits, reporting, and regulatory reporting and regulatory inquiries.
- Drive automation and process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risk.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with front-office traders, middle-office teams, technology, and risk management to optimize trade processing workflows.
- Liaise with external counterparties, custodians, and clearinghouses to ensure seamless settlements.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on key operational metrics and challenges.
Technology & Process Improvement
- Identify and implement technology-driven solutions to streamline operations and enhance STP (Straight-Through Processing) rates.
- Collaborate with IT and project teams on system enhancements, UAT testing, and automation initiatives.
- Continuously analyze processes to drive efficiency and cost reduction while maintaining high service standards.
Eligibility Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. MBA or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus.
Experience:
- 6+ years of experience in investment banking operations, trade settlements, or middle-office functions.
- Proven experience leading a team in a high-pressure financial environment.
- Strong understanding of trade lifecycle management, market infrastructure, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Dodd-Frank, EMIR, MiFID, FinFrag. SFTR).
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in financial systems and trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, SWIFT, MarkitSERV, Calypso).
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with data analytics and automation tools (e.g., VBA, Python, SQL) is a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. trading, compliance and risk) to ensure smooth operations.
- Partner with external counterparties (e.g. brokers, custodians and clearing houses) to address settlement issues.
Risk Management
- Maintain robust control, ensuring all settlements adhere to internal and external compliance standards.
- Proactively identify and address potential risks within the transaction lifecycle.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
CH Work Permit
- Must have a valid Swiss working permit or carry a EU national passport
