Ink Formulation Laboratory Manager
ROLE
• Independently manage the organizational (operational) aspects of a research entity by following the directions discussed with the R&I management to ensure creativity and optimize the productivity of the entity.
• Solve complex problems by establishing innovative solutions. Guide research by proposing new approaches to chemists.
• Distribute projects among chemists, ensure the coordination of different projects within the entity, and monitor their respective progress.
• Create new products and technical concepts and optimize existing products. Ensure and supervise the transition of projects from the development/research stage to the subsequent stages (industrialization/production/clientele).
• Ensure the technical documentation related to all laboratory products.
• Independently manage the technical interface with clients, suppliers, partners, and various SICPA entities. Document research results in accordance with company policy.
• Take the lead on certain strategic inter-laboratory projects. Monitor technological advancements, including new markets, competitors, and emerging technologies, within your area of expertise. Contribute to the development and deployment of the quality management system.
• Ensure the administrative management of the laboratory. Develop investment and operating budgets for the entity in consultation with R&I management. Ensure compliance with these budgets.
• Ensure a peaceful working environment in the laboratory and promote a work ethic that helps all members thrive and grow. Be attentive to the needs of all team members.
• Participate in the evaluation of laboratory members. Identify recruitment needs and take an active role in selecting new team members. Facilitate and organize ongoing training within the laboratory. Support the technical and behavioral excellence of all team members, tailored to their specific roles.
PROFILE
• PhD degree in chemistry, or Master’s degree combined with solid experience in chemistry/material sciences.
• Knowledge of security inks, characterization tools, and printing processes.
• Experience in managing large teams.
• Results and solution-oriented, autonomous, resilient.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, effective communicator with strong influencing abilities, able to unite people around a concept.
• Experience in project planning and management.
• Knowledge of quality management systems and financial management (Opex, Capex).
• Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken).
