The position entails working the Zurich hardware technology incubation team an innovative work environment. We are a small, agile and multi-disciplinary team forming part of the wider Apple Hardware Technology organization. With significant lab space, we are pursuing ground-breaking hardware development to enable future products and features that enrich the lives of our customers. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting an engineering team with multiple projects by maintaining equipment and facilities inside and outside of a cleanroom, with a focus on automation and metrology. Training on equipment and procedures will be provided. Additionally, as the Hardware Technician, you will support Apple engineers on building prototypes, supporting material testing and conducting validation tests. Description
In the role of Hardware Technician, you will enable hardware development in multiple areas for R&D labs and cleanrooms. You will have the complete overview of the equipment including its maintenance. You will be responsible for maintaining stock of critical components for the lab space. You will interact closely with the hardware incubation team securing their needs. This ranges from building prototypes, conducting failure analysis experiments, workshop support, logistics support, as well as support in reliability and material testing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical knowledge and experience automation and equipment maintenance Experience in working in a cleanroom environment
- Proven experience in working in an R&D environment including metrology equipment
- Hands-on skills to disassemble and re-assemble miniaturized hardware
- Structured work capabilities, accept responsibilities, and seek excellence
- English language proficiency is required

- • Ability and interest to work and test new materials
- • Basic technical background in a relevant field, for example mechanical engineering, metrology, or sensing technologies
- • Basic understanding of process development in a semi-conductor environment
- • Basic mechanic skills and ability to use 3D CAD is desirable
- • Openness to new technologies (e.g. 3D design & printing for early prototypes
- • Willingness to pick up novel tasks and acquire novel skills
- • As a go-to person, you should have good communication skills, be team-oriented and self-organized
