We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Scientist to join our team and participate in an exciting automated control project in the field of continuous manufacturing of biologics. The successful candidate will contribute to developing and implementing automation strategies in a biologics drug products setting, with a focus on modeling and process control.

They will work closely with the Schaffhausen pilot plant innovation and the global process science modeling & data teams to demonstrate the value of PAT (Process Analytical Technology) and modeling for real-time process monitoring and control.

Help us build the next generation of fill finish plant!

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement an automation solution to enable the efficient, flexible, and accurate mixing and filling of parenteral drug product (DP) in a continuous manufacturing setup.

  • Build a (simplified) process model that can be used in, e.g., a model predictive control setup, to optimize the control policy in real time under hard and soft constraints.

  • Work together with other modelers focusing on detailed multi-physics descriptions to ensure the model used as part of the control strategy accurately gathers the relevant quality and performance metrics.

  • Collaborate with different departments to integrate the various available sensors into the automation system and estimate the system states. Work together to fix emerging issues and ensure smooth operations.
