As a Site Reliability Engineer in the Publishing Technology Solutions group, you will help shape the digital future of Tamedia. This role combines traditional SRE responsibilities with platform team tasks, aimed at improving, deploying, and running Switzerland’s most important news sites. You will be part of a team of 6 engineers responsible for running the end-to-end Tamedia publishing cloud infrastructure.

What you can expect

  • Play a key role in building Tamedia publishing platform, which will standardize development processes and empower teams to create innovative services and applications
  • Collaborate with developers across Tamedia to ensure the platform meets their needs and simplifies their workflows
  • Run our infrastructure on AWS with Kubernetes as our container orchestrator
  • Develop and maintain automation tools and processes, including deployment workflows through GitHub Actions
  • Design, build and maintain core infrastructure pieces that allow our publishing solutions scaling to support thousands of internal concurrent users and millions of external users worldwide
  • Establish monitoring and alerting to proactively prevent disruptions, using Datadog and Prometheus/Grafana
  • Leverage potential of cloud solutions, properly balancing availability, reliability, performance, and costs, in close contact with the product teams
  • Be on an on-call rotation to respond to availability incidents and provide support for product engineers

We are looking for

  • Proven experience in a Platform or SRE role
  • Enthusiasm to continuously learn and love for challenges
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment and a passion for creating development efficiencies
  • You know AWS in depth and you have experience with CDNs
  • Proficiency with at least one programming language (Python, Node, etc.)
  • Have an enthusiastic, go-for-it attitude. When you see something broken or which can be improved, you can't help but act
  • You have extensive knowledge of docker, kubernetes, terraform and git
  • You can help software engineers learn to build for the cloud, and exploit the potential of the cloud ecosystem
  • You have mastery over CI/CD tools and processes, and are continually improving these

From application to success: Our hiring process

Preselection

We review our applications on an ongoing basis. To ensure a fast response time, we create a preliminary selection. The decision on advancement or departure from the recruitment process is done by the hiring manager and communicated via mail.

Technical Interview

Here you will get to know your potential manager and/or colleagues. We will test specific knowledge relevant to the execution of the job. Depending on the situation, this will be either conducted virtually or in person. Also this step can be split into several smaller interviews.

Case Study

You will be given a specific problem or challenge that is relevant to the position you have applied for. When presenting your results, we have the opportunity to better understand your skills and approaches in a work context.

On-site Iinterview
