For our Zurich Research Center we are looking for a Systems Engineer.

Key responsibilities:

  • Management & monitoring system performance and ensuring reliability and availability
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems, application software
  • Anticipating & troubleshooting systems-related issues
  • Continual maintenance of security, including backup and redundancy strategies
  • Local IT systems maintenance, including network infrastructure
  • Maintaining a SLURM-based cluster used for research
  • Management and administration of a local GitLab-based code repository (user management, GitLab updates, troubleshooting)
  • Providing Level 2 and Level 3 technical support to end-users and resolving technical inquiries
  • Experience working across different networks/VLANs
  • User desktop workstations/laptops/printers support

 

What we expect:

  • MSc / BSc in Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information Technology, Business Informatics or related discipline
  • At least 3 years prior experience as a Systems Engineer
  • Experience in supporting multiple applications and network environments
  • Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux-based environments
  • Proficiency in automated operation and maintenance, monitoring tools, and automated deployment tools (Ansible for example)
  • Experience with virtualization and containerization (Hyper-V, Proxmox, VMware)
  • Previous experience in IT support role or willingness to learn these skills
  • Good analytical & debugging skills
  • Team player and ability to work with autonomy

 

Nice to have:

Experience with one or more of:

  • SLURM Workload Manager
  • Container Environments Docker
  • Continuous integration (Jenkins, Gitlab CI)
