In the Immunology group, we are developing cutting edge therapies to treat inflammatory diseases. As a member of Immunology, you will be part of an international group that includes scientists and clinicians that are developing immunologic medicines for the future.
We are seeking a highly motivated master student for an internship position in cell biology and CRISPR screening . This is a unique and exciting opportunity to work in the Immunology group at Roche.
In this position you will

Learn about Inflammatory bowel disease and the cells that play a role in its pathogenesis, in particular stromal cells

Learn how to develop and apply CRISPR KO in vitro assays for the discovery and validation of new modulatory agents of stromal cells in the area of inflammatory bowel disease

Under supervised training and mentoring, gradually assume responsibility for agreed tasks (which may include: cell culture optimization, CRISPR KO assays, biomolecular techniques (RNA extraction, qPCR), imaging (immunofluorescence), flow cytometry, data analysis, and graphical visualizations

Be part of a matrix research environment and embedded in a highly experienced researchers team with diverse backgrounds ranging from biology, immunology and biotechnology

Collaboratively design, execute and interpret experiments
Who you are
You are a motivated and ambitious student who is currently enrolled in a Master program in life sciences (preferably in the area of molecular life science, biology, immunology, technology, pharmacy or biomedical engineering) or finished your studies within 12 months.
Moreover, you are
- A person who brings a dedicated attitude and is excited about learning, works systematically and precisely and brings a high level of proactivity and initiative
- You are experienced with cell culture techniques and familiar with molecular biology techniques such as RNA extraction, qPCR, immunofluorescence and flow cytometry
- Have a basic understanding of CRISPR technology and gene editing principles.
- Able to manage multiple requests and priorities and willingness to learn new techniques
- Knowledgeable of biological principles, display interest and demonstrate scientific curiosity
- Proficient in English with good communication skills both written and oral
The preferred start date of the internship is mid January but can be adjusted upon availability. Please clearly indicate your preferred starting date and duration (minimum 9 months, maximum 12 months) on your motivation letter
