In Supply Chain Operations (SCO) we lead, plan, and execute the supply ​of IKEA products ​between suppliers ​and retailers. We do this together with our ~1000 coworkers, from 15 locations around the world, by leading the tactical and operational planning, securing optimal replenishment, sourcing and development of transport and logistics capacities, and managing the goods the flow.  

In Category Distribution, we are responsible for securing handling & storing capacities for IKEA products. We do this by establishing and managing relationships with distribution centers around the world. Our ~40 coworkers work closely with Service Providers, Retailers, Wholesaler, and other stakeholders across the IKEA value chain.

We are currently recruiting an Automation Specialist who will be responsible for the overall functionality, performance and availability of the Automation systems installed in our Distribution Unit located in Port Klang, Malaysia.


Job description

In this role you will:

  • Secure functionality of the logistics automation systems on a day-to-day basis. Responsible for the mechanical/electrical performance and troubleshooting of the automated equipment’s in the unit.
  • Coordinate work of suppliers and supervise the assigned maintenance activities, repair, shut downs etc.
  • Provides support during the introduction of new equipment and modifications of existing ones from the development of specifications, cooperations with suppliers and final installation.
  • Acting as a key escalation point and being the focal point for automation related topics.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, planned repairs, and reactive repairs of the automated equipment.
  • Develop and ensure the local operations team is trained with user basic knowledge.
  • Diagnose mechanical and/or electrical potential problems and propose corrective actions.
  • Creates reports relevant to activity as agreed in the unit.
  • Drive and lead improvement projects.
  • Responsible for spare part management and stock.
  • Contributes at projects and initiatives connected to improving the unit operational performance.

 


Qualification

You are the right person for us if you have/are:

  • Relevant technical education or equivalent working experience in connection with Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems in warehousing environment.
  • Worked in an automated warehouse environment for at least 3 years.
  • Knowledge in Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Warehouse Controlling Systems and/or Material Flow Control software
  • Experience to work with remote helpdesk. 
  • Able to read and utilize mechanical & electrical schematics to assist in troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical and electronic components.
  • Strong analytical skills and capable of generating thorough and comprehensive service reports with computer skills including MS Office.
  • Familiarity with safe work practices in warehousing and logistic units.
  • Can multi-task, prioritize workloads and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • A strong team player.
  • strong motivation in solving problems and finding better ways.
  • Willing to work on shift and six-day per week.

In this role you will report to Facility Manager for Category Distribution and based in our Distribution Center located in Port Klang, Malaysia.
