The Institute of Philosophy at the University of Bern offers two PhD positions within the SNSF Consolidator project "Worldly Indeterminacy". The working hypothesis of this project is that there are facts about the world that remain indeterminate no matter how much we know. The goal is to develop a metaphysical theory of this indeterminacy and to investigate its consequences for normative questions, especially the attribution of responsibility.
The project group will consist of four members: Prof. Dr. Vera Hoffmann-Kolss (University of Bern), Dr. Jonas Werner (University of Bern), and two PhD candidates.
A more detailed description of the project can be found here: hoffmann-kolss.de/Files/ ProjectDescription_ indeter...
You will conduct research within the overall theme of the project and write a dissertation in philosophy. In addition, you will organize workshops and meetings for the project, participate in international conferences, and regularly attend both internal project meetings as well as colloquia and seminars at the Institute of Philosophy in Bern. You may also contribute to teaching and supervision in areas relevant to your PhD project.
