Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is searching for an Associate Director AD, Automated Data Platforms to lead Automated Data Platforms, automated data processing, automated data measurement, automated data visualization, and automated data quality control across all therapeutic areas in US region. This role will be based in Titusville, NJ with consideration to be based out of Horsham, PA.

The Associate Director, Automated Data Platforms will lead the automated data platforms, automated data processing, automated data measurement, automated data quality control, and automated data visualization across all therapeutic areas in US region. This AD is responsible for building and enhancing automated data platforms & products for the commercial function businesses – making current automated data platforms more efficient & effective while also adding new capabilities & setting the foundation for connected insights that fuels our competitive edge, supporting better and faster decisions. She/he will align automated data platforms partners and development teams around common measurable product goals and engage the business in the automated data product development and support processes. This person will also develop, implement, and maintain Data Quality Control systems for automated data platform at the data inception, data processing, and data outputs.
Competencies:
- Experience and deep knowledge of Automated Data Platforms, One Data Platforms, Data 360, Customer 360, etc.
- Experience building and maintaining Automated Data Platforms, Data 360, One Data Platforms
- Experience with Patient and HCP customer 360 solutions as it applied to marketing and patient engagement business processes
- Experience in sales and marketing data and data platforms, data visualization, and data analytics.
- Demonstrated impact in pharmaceutical data environment working with specific use cases mapped to HCP, omnichannel, and patient engagement initiatives
- Experience with customer master solutions (MDM) and integrating with pharmaceutical sales and marketing processes
- Ability to experiment through a trial-and-error process and listening to our customers and key stakeholders to roll out innovative solutions
- Rich experience leading large cross-functional matrix teams and initiatives: internal/external, onshore/offshore, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, including ability to simplify complex technical issues
- Customer focus with building relationships, issue identification and resolution, problem-solving and project management skills
- Detail-oriented and results-driven
- Experience with data and platforms in a pharmaceutical commercial environment is required
- Knowledge of data infrastructure, AWS, Azure, etc. Experience with Analytics Layer.
- Fast learner and visionary for Automated Data Platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Vision:
- Co-create the long-term strategy and vision for the evolution of the Automated Data Platforms (ADP) identifying key goals, technological advancements, and how to position the platform to meet current and future business needs.
- Collaborate on developing a roadmap for Automated Data Platforms that includes new data products and capabilities, such as a Data Marketplace.
- Develop business case for new capabilities for the leadership team.
- Develop a strategic understanding of ADP users, including their roles, consumption patterns, data needs, and pain points, to tailor the platform accordingly.
- Engage with various user personas (e.g., data scientists, analysts, business users) to ensure the platform provides the necessary data access for their work.
- Incorporate user feedback and usage patterns into the continuous improvement of the ADPs, ensuring it evolves in line with user expectations and business goals.
- Define an impact & value realization framework and establish success KPIs for adoption, efficiency gains, automation, faster time to insights, etc.
- Support budget estimation and planning to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Demand Generation & Release Management:
- Partner with J&J IM teams to identify new use cases and datasets for onboarding through cross-team collaboration.
- Facilitate prioritization of new demands and manage the backlog with the ADP/ODP/CDP Core Team and Product Owners.
- Develop release and sprint plans based on prioritized and backlog activities for both, existing and new data products.
- Proactively identify risks and suggest mitigation strategies.
- Utilize agile project management methodologies to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
Data Product Requirements, Design & Build:
- Conduct working sessions and workshops to understand and collect requirements from analytics, business, and functional teams.
- Document current state inventory of data/KPIs for existing datamarts/reports as needed to establish a baseline for requirements and foundational data product requirements.
- Leverage domain expertise (Payer, Medical, Patient, etc.) to design data products that meet prioritized business needs, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Develop and review data models, architectures, and pipelines necessary for building the data products.
- Collaborate with J&J and other program teams (JET, JCAP, JAIDE, etc.) to ensure cohesive product development for prioritized use case activation.
- Implement J&J IM best practices for coding, testing, and deploying data products.
- Support end-user testing/validation and iterate based on feedback.
- Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance.
- Facilitate user acceptance testing for major releases with business stakeholders.
- Provide comprehensive documentation for all stages of product development.
Data Operations:
- Oversee data operations of data products on the One Data Platform, ensuring consistent availability, accuracy, and reliability.
- Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to address any issues proactively.
- Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and governance standards within the platform.
- Ongoing support and troubleshooting for users of the data products.
- Implement minor enhancements based on user feedback and backlog priorities.
- Monitor performance and manage incident & access management
Change Management (Adoption, Communication & Value Realization):
- Co-create a change management strategy to drive the adoption of the data products and its new capabilities.
- Develop communication plans and compelling communications to generate awareness, generate excitement, and drive the adoption of data products and new capabilities.
- Develop program, new data products & capabilities overview packets to enable executive communication in multiple forums like SteerCo, Lunch & Learn, Townhall, etc.
- Identify & engage key cross-functional partners and champions for different data products and capabilities to reduce barriers to adoption and increase long-term collaboration.
- Create onboarding material and conduct office hours & trainings for new data products & capabilities to educate the end users, increase familiarity & remove barriers to adoption.
- Engage continuously with users and collect feedback through various channels (office hours, surveys, ADP champions, etc.) to identify areas for improvement and ensure sustained adoption.
- Support user and application adoption, including migration planning.
- Define and populate impact & value realization framework to capture quantitative & qualitative measures on adoption, efficiency gains, faster time to insights, user feedback, etc.
Data Ecosystem Knowledge & Technical Architecture:
- Maintain awareness of evolving data platform technologies and industry trends to advise on strategic enhancements to ADPs.
- Collaborate with J&J teams to create a robust and flexible architecture that supports current and future data products. (e.g. unstructured data)
- Design and optimize the ADP architecture by incorporating proven data platform methodologies, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
- Ensure the architecture is capable of handling complex data workflows, high-volume data processing, and diverse data sources.
- Integrate the architecture with existing J&J systems and platforms to provide seamless data flow and access.
- Utilize experience with key technologies such as cloud platforms, big data solutions, ETL/ELT tools, and data governance frameworks in the development of ADP.
- Apply knowledge of relevant platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) to ensure that ADP is built on a solid foundation that supports advanced analytics and AI/ML capabilities.
- Collaborate on the selection and implementation of tools and technologies that enhance the ADP’s functionality, performance, and user experience.
- Maintain a deep understanding of other data platforms in the ecosystem (ODP, CDP, MDP, OPAL, CD BI, Payer Spine, Payer 360, etc.) to shape the evolution of ADPs, reduce redundancy, and drive harmonization
