Head of Leadership, Transformation and Culture
This role will help to deliver for the science community in a new era.
Job description
CSCS has recently undergone a significant structural and cultural transformation to position itself as a leader in the future of Extreme Scale Computing, Data and Artificial Intelligence. We are in a crucial refinement phase and are actively embodying the newly created organization, committed to a value-driven culture, leadership principles, and a growth mindset. As a Swiss research infrastructure, CSCS is uniquely positioned within ETH Zurich, providing access to world-class science while competing for top-tier talent that is also highly sought after in the private sector.
CSCS operates in flat, decentralised networks rather than traditional hierarchies and matrices. Line management is ensured by units of 15 to 30 staff members reporting to Unit Heads, who have dual roles in technical leadership and staff coaching. Staff members are assigned to Working Structures that facilitate effective work.
We believe that culture is the cornerstone of lasting success and are looking for someone eager to demonstrate leadership as a role model.
We are dedicated to creating an environment where high-performance talent aligns with a strong mission and vision to generate scientific value for the greater good.
The primary work location is in Lugano, and a frequent presence in Zurich is required. We expect at least three days of presence in our offices.
Duties/Job Description:
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, lead the cultural development of CSCS and act as the Change and Transformation leader. Guide the organisation in implementing a value-driven culture, working closely with Unit Heads and supporting them in their line management roles. Take responsibility for the skill and talent development of staff.
- Support CSCS Management in advancing the organisation's goals and mission, particularly in shaping and enhancing the collaboration, perception, and understanding of CSCS within ETH Zürich and its key members.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to Unit Heads, Work Structure Leaders, and other key members of CSCS in leadership, as well as act as a coach/mentor for senior management.
- Collaborate closely with the HR Partner from ETH assigned to CSCS to continue digitalising and streamlining CSCS HR processes and define upskilling paths for employees.
Profile
- A Master’s degree in psychology, organisational development, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in leading and completing cultural transformation processes, with a deep understanding of personnel needs.
- A strong track record of value-driven leadership, cultural alignment, and hands-on leadership experience of large teams.
- Formal training and hands-on experience in coaching and mentoring senior management.
- Excellent communication skills, a team player, and a people-oriented approach with high emotional intelligence.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
