What you'll do
As part of Corporate Quality, our Ground Systems Quality Team helps to improve the product quality on small to large antenna systems that communicates with the Satellite systems. As a part of this team you will also help with product and process improvements to enhance Quality and Reliability of the systems.
The day-to-day
- Review product yield, Non-Conformances, and field reliability data for trends and provide analysis and recommendations to the business
- Engage in solving problems to improve product quality, on-time delivery, and cost
- Help drive root cause investigations and process improvement efforts as well as create and implement world class quality practices (i.e. Pareto Analysis, Histograms, Cause & Effect Diagrams, etc.) and business tools to help streamline this analysis
- Review material issues and collaborate with engineers to decide what actions need to be taken to address these issues
- Evaluate our processes and methods of monitoring and measuring our performance and provide guidance on improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with cross functional teams as you purpose and implement process changes or new solutions
Internship Program Details:

You will work onsite at a Viasat office location for the duration of your 12-13 week internship. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams.

To ensure equity across our intern population, intern compensation is pre-determined based on a variety of factors including: role, location, and final graduation date. Intern compensation is non-negotiable.
What you'll need
Education Requirements:
- Currently pursuing Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent Engineering field
- To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2025 and June 2026
Internship Dates:

You must be available for the full duration of the 12-13 week internship program. Note limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars:

Cohort 1: May 20th, 2025 – August 15th, 2025

Cohort 2: June 17th, 2025 – September 12th, 2025

Additional Requirements:
- Some experience in support of electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies Build and Test, etc.
- Strong math, statistics data analysis, and data mining skills
- Ability to work across organization boundaries in a team setting
What will help you on the job
- Interest and proficiency in pursuing root cause of problems and finding solutions to improve products and processes
- Previous Viasat internship experience
Salary range
$21 - $56 / hourly.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $26 - $66/ hourly
