Our Senior Automation Engineer serves as the onsite specialist for all automated material handling equipment and warehouse control system administration for the European Distribution Center Hub Site based in Courcelles, Belgium. The successful candidate will serve and play a key role in the optimization of processes, improving efficiency, and driving innovation across our operations providing technical expertise to the operation of a highly automated, efficient distribution hub for medical devices. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead project execution and proposal processes, including application & control system upgrades, automated equipment, design specs, validation, change control, and pilot solutions.
- Investigate and recommend on the selection of new equipment, implement cost reduction and efficiency improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma techniques.
- Develop and supervise automation systems metrics and performance indicators. Implement process surveillance programs for process control, yield, cycle time, quality, equipment change-over, and equipment reliability.
- Provide preventive/corrective maintenance and troubleshooting expertise on automation systems.
- Maintain knowledge of company processes and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, information security, validation, and change control.
- Partner with site teams for knowledge transfer for technical issues and developing maintenance procedures for future self-sufficiency.
- Design, develop, and deploy automation solutions using Industry 4.0 principles such as Automation, IoT, big data analytics, and cyber-physical systems.
- Develop and maintain digital twins, predictive maintenance models, and real-time monitoring systems to optimize asset performance and minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations for cybersecurity, data privacy, and safety in all automation projects.
- Partner with J&J technology organizations (ISRM, JJT, TQ) to ensure WCS requirements are represented in deployments and plans (e.g. JJT Server and Network Infrastructure, Cyber Security & SOX, Common Data Layer Digital Strategies).
