About the Role
The Securities Services Settlements Portfolio Manager is responsible for the delivery, governance, and overall success of the Settlements portfolio within Securities Services Custody Technology. The role holder must have adequate knowledge and information about the business and technology to be able to make informed decisions and ensure that a collaborative approach to working is adopted. The individual will work closely with Development Technology Leads as well as other Citi teams to ensure successful delivery of the entire portfolio.
Additionally, the role holder will also be responsible for ensuring that delivery standards are adhered to monitored across the portfolio. Reporting to the Delivery Director, the role will be highly visible within the organisation and involve regular communication with business heads and other key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Take accountability, in partnership with delivery director and senior technology leads, for successful delivery of the Settlements portfolio.
- Establish a suitable governance framework and portfolio structure to deliver the necessary project capability to support delivery of the road map and business objectives.
- Deliver a complex series of related projects, effectively managing their interdependencies and allocating resources to support prioritised work efforts.
- Provide coaching and guidance to the team and build and manage meaningful and supportive relationships across the organisation.
- Take ownership of the budget for the overall portfolio by maintaining and communicating overall portfolio financials.
- Influence a diverse delivery team from technology in successfully achieving end-to-end programme goals.
- Establish appropriate stakeholder engagement across Technology, Operations, Product and Partner organisations for appropriate contributions to ensure the highest possible value-add to portfolio outcomes.
- Work with all Programme Directors and Project Managers across SST to ensure programme governance and delivery process and methodology is effective, i.e. every component has detailed IT work plans, schedules with milestones, estimates, resource plans, reporting; toolkit and systems are optimally utilised.
- Proactively manage and assist the team in the resolution of programme challenges, preventing them realising as issues, including ensuring clear ownership and tracking of all such challenges. This can include but is not limited to vendor approvals and engagements, local in-country approval processes, and software/infrastructure coordination.
- Understand and monitor expectations of the partner programme sponsors and stakeholders.
- Ensure the sponsors and stakeholders receive the appropriate level of information in a timely and consistent manner, in line with SST standards.
- Fully understand and act transparently managing the programme budget and financial cycle, including ensuring adherence to agreed financial targets.
- Demonstrate in-depth understanding of how IT Program Management integrates within the overall technology function to achieve objectives.
- Develop and demonstrate knowledge of the technology ecosystem and business architecture.
Knowledge & Skills Required
- 10+ years in complex Project and Programme Management experience within a technology environment delivering high value projects. Thorough understanding of project/programme management techniques.
- High-level of IT literacy.
- Significant Securities Services or Asset Management industry experience within FX/ Funds/ Custody and associated Digital Transformation is required.
- A proven leadership style that creates an environment for delivery of clear, measurable goals.
- Ability to organise and prioritise critical issues and information to facilitate efficient decision making, providing oversight and guidance to team by priority/ importance.
- Exceptional communicating, influencing and engagement skills.
- Growth Mind-set: Experience and passion for learning; implementing practices from others; trying, failing, sharing practices and knowledge for others’ benefit.
- Problem Solver: Ability to solve complex challenges, and have a high ability to remove barriers, understanding internal and external organizational structures, dynamics and trade-off.
- Financial & budget management expertise.
- Data analysis & KPIs management.
- Crisis & risk management confidence and experience.
- Extensive experience setting standards and implementing governance, holding individuals to account and challenging status quo.
- Proven experience of portfolio delivery including providing portfolio assurance and governance is desirable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- PMP/PgMP, Prince 2 or similar professionally recognised qualifications in project management.
- Certified in Agile/ Scrum.
