Mercer Wealth Global Head of Real Assets
Mercer continues to experience rapid growth in its investments business, and in particular, its private markets business globally, serving expanding client segments including Endowments & Foundations, Financial Institutions, such as Insurance Companies, Wealth Managers and Family Offices, as well as sovereign wealth funds, public sector plans and others. We are also seeing increasing demand from very large institutional investors seeking Extension of Staff and Partnership arrangements as well as the traditional advisory and commingled fund solutions.
The Global Head of Real Assets will provide leadership of our Infrastructure, Real Estate and other Real Assets investment strategies, manager relationships and investment professionals and will play a leading role in supporting the continued growth of our private markets business across the investment continuum of research, advice and solutions.
Additional responsibilities include driving thought leadership with respect to the role Real Assets play in advisory and discretionary client portfolios, articulating key themes influencing investment considerations across Real Assets strategies and representing Mercer’s expertise in Real Assets in internal and external leadership and industry forums.
The Global Head of Real Assets will provide leadership to our existing Real Estate, Infrastructure and other Real Assets class specialists to serve our clients and grow our investment business, develop market relevant thought leadership, services and solutions as well as attracting, retaining and developing our investment talent.
Responsibilities include:
Leading a large team of investment professionals:
- People manager for a large team of global investment professionals, focused on coaching and empowering the team to deliver value-added research, investment performance and risk management for advisory and discretionary client portfolios.
- Drive to completion specific hiring efforts, overseeing the performance appraisal and career development processes to ensure appropriate goals are set and progress against these is monitored with regular feedback provided
Partnering with Mercer stakeholders:
- To work with our largest institutional clients to develop and implement custom advice and solutions, and to provide “Extension of Staff” advisory services in all areas of Real Assets.
Thought leadership:
- Contribute to the ongoing development of Mercer’s intellectual capital in various investment themes and topics, including the role of Real Assets in asset allocation, manager selection, monitoring and risk management and addressing thematic investment considerations that touch Real Assets and may span across multiple asset classes.
Product development:
- As part of ongoing leadership in creating intellectual capital, partner with Mercer’s extensive intellectual capital and growth enablement resources to deliver leading edge Real Assets products and solutions for all of our client segments and partnerships, including evergreen structures.
- Articulate Mercer’s value proposition for investing in Real Assets to drive successful client outcomes and ongoing growth
Portfolio implementation and risk management:
- Ensure all private Real Assets portfolios are managed appropriately to deliver on client objectives while ensuring appropriate risk management.
- Advance new and creative opportunities for client investment opportunities with managers
- Oversee Real Assets Investment and Ratings Review Committees and participate in other committees as deemed relevant
- May maintain involvement in client relationships and leadership of manager relationships
Process enhancement:
- Ensure the successful implementation of processes and process enhancements to provide consistent execution of client deliverables and investment processes across all Real Assets and in-line with other private markets asset classes to ensure a seamless client and colleague experience
Growth:
- Support Mercer’s AUM, AUA and revenue growth initiatives
- Align with Mercer’s current and targeted AUM, AUA and revenue metrics for Real Assets and partner with key internal stakeholders to support the achievement of stated growth targets
- Participate in commercial readiness and development activities, as relevant, to help facilitate the commercial success for Mercer’s Real Assets capabilities; support team members to improve on presentation and other skills that contribute to client delivery and commercial growth imperatives
- Represent Mercer in the market, being a prominent voice for Mercer’s private markets and Real Assets capabilities and serving as a brand ambassador of our investment value proposition and capabilities

The applicable base salary range for this role is $224,000 to $336,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
