Description

This is how you can contribute
  • Professional, human resource and financial management of the Group according to the strategy of Agroscope and the ’Sustainability Assessment and Agricultural Management’ Research Division
  • Building a strong reputation for and strategic further development of the Research Group in the thematic fields of social sustainability, labour, and socioeconomic aspects of digitalisation in the agri-food sector
  • Continuous further development of your own research and of the professional and methodological portfolio of the Research Group
  • Publication of the research findings in international scientific journals and in the specialist agricultural press
  • Developing and cultivating national and international networks in the Group’s research field
  • Developing and publishing scientific principles for the attention of the Federal Office for Agriculture

Requirements

This makes you unique
  • PhD in Agroeconomics, Rural Sociology or related research area closely linked to the research field of the Group - Proven expertise in qualitative and quantitative empirical social research methods
  • Scientific track record in the Group’s research field and experience in the acquisition of third-party funding
  • Good leadership qualities: leadership and management skills (inspiring others with enthusiasm, working in a goal-oriented manner, managing processes)
  • Good knowledge of two official Swiss languages and good English

Additional information
The ’Socioeconomics’ Research Group deals with the social dimension of sustainability in agriculture, setting it in relation to economic factors. In addition to conducting interviews and surveys, work economics, with its systematic recording of working-time requirement on farms, plays an important role here. The Group works methodically with time measurements and quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
