What you'll be doing here

  • Management and execution of the BFH subproject in an international, interdisclipinary SNSF founded research project on advanced separation technologies for the valorization of lignocellulosic biomass
  • Practical laboratory work including modification, commissioning and operation of a steam-pretreatment plant, qualitative and quantitative analysis of solubilized molecules in pretreatment liquors, enzymatic hydrolysis
  • Dissemination of results at conferences and in peer-reviewed publications
  • Supervision of Bachelor, Master and PhD students

What you'll bring with you

  • MSc and PhD in chemical / process engineering or a related disclipine
  • Profound experience in (steam-)pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass, enzymatic hydrolysis and related analytical methods
  • Basic knowledge of lignin chemistry
  • Enjoyment of hands-on laboratory and mechanical work
  • Quick comprehension; independent, meticulous and reliable way of working
  • Good communication skills; team player
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Enthusiasm for green chemistry and climate change mitigation
