Dysregulation of lipid metabolism plays a key role in development and progression of metabolic disorders including obesity, type 2 diabetes and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Our group's overall goal is to understand lipid metabolism in human and to develop novel approaches for deep metabolic phenotyping. To this end, we have developed several approaches including state-of-the-art lipidomics/metabolomics, pre-clinical models, functional assays and metabolic modelling to understand lipid metabolism and its regulation.
What you can expect
We are currently seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher in lipidomics / metabolomics. The primary objective of this project is to investigate the role of oxidative stress in regulation of lipid metabolism in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease. The candidate will be responsible to develop new LC-MS/MS methods for identification and quantification of a large number of oxidized lipids.
Your Profile
The ideal candidate should have a PhD or equivalent in biochemistry, analytical chemistry or mass spectrometry with appropriate research experience in lipidomics. Proficiency in mass spectrometry, especially high-resolution mass spectrometry is essential. Good knowledge of physiology and metabolism is required. Experience with mass spectrometry imaging is a plus. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within the team. Good communication skills and fluency in both spoken and written English is essential.
What we offer
We provide the candidate with a supporting and state-of-the-art research environment to develop scientifically and professionally. The successful candidate will be able to work and get training on a multi-disciplinary research project. The position is available from Jan 2024 or upon agreement.
