Junior Analyst Intern (6-month internship)



Your team


Pictet Trading & Sales (PTS) offers clients direct access to global markets and bespoke trading solutions across a wide range of asset classes. Our sales traders, IT specialists, strategists and analysts are assisted by a full suite of risk and control functions as well as some of the latest technologies.


 


The Trading Strategy team is responsible for creating and publishing short-term dedicated market commentary and trading ideas designed for our institutional trading clients, with reference to our proprietary quant model. Joining the team as a junior analyst intern, you would be working alongside and supporting your colleagues by carrying out macro-level analysis as well as assisting with the production and monitoring of our regular trading strategy publications, market reports, quant/technical analysis and client presentations.


Your role



  • Carrying out short-term market analysis and contributing to the English-language trading strategy publications that are designed for our institutional clients globally.

  • Helping the quantitative team to develop new tools and maintain existing ones and to generate strategy/signal ideas in the backtesting run.

  • Contributing to multiple quantitative developments.

  • Collaborating with colleagues to generate short-term ideas and themes in equity/macro markets.

  • Providing analysis/responding to requests for market information on demand.

  • Attending daily trading meetings and regularly presenting/providing pertinent and relevant market information.

  • Keeping abreast of developments in financial markets and of the investment views of the bank while also managing disciplined follow-up on any trading recommendations.

  • Assisting with the day-to-day production, publishing, compliance and administration requirements associated with the desk’s activities.


Your profile



  • Degree/diploma in quantitative finance/financial engineering, or equivalent.

  • Experience in the banking industry would be a plus.

  • In-depth knowledge of macro finance and equity/macro markets.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and to express complex ideas succinctly.

  • Fluent in both English and French – with proficient English writing skills a must.

  • Well organised and with strong presentation skills and a keen attention to detail.

  • Strong team spirit with a willingness to take initiative, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Proficient user in R and/or Python programming and MS Office (including excel VBA).

  • Familiarity with Bloomberg and/or Factset would be a plus.

  • Resident in Switzerland, or willing to relocate.
